We all can agree that music was at its best in the ’80s, and Bruno Mars never fails to remind us with his new song “24K Magic” off his album also titled “24K Magic“. I’m a big fan of the ’80s and Bruno Mars is the only reminder of that groovy feeling anyone will feel to dance.
Theme-wise, the tunes don’t share much. Mars has referred to “24K Magic” as “the invitation to the party” that is his third studio record, and boy does he supply. The synth-heavy track features a heavy dose of retro funk. donning cuban links and designer minks, Bruns receives right down to business at the dance ground.
Sonically, though, they point clearly in one direction, and that’s toward the 1980s, an era that serves as one more meeting place for these young artists fluent in the history of soul and pop. On their albums, both released this month, Mars and the Weeknd make expert use of the decade’s signature sounds and textures, albeit to largely different ends.
Bruno’s new album “24K Magic” is currently out now on iTunes, Amazon, and everywhere else, that’s good news and you can get it here.
